Watchmen IMAX times
Aren't you lucky? After a day slaving away in front of a computer screen I'm sitting down behind one in my free evening to give you a nice little bonus blog update. Mostly because I didn't have time today, and probably won't have tomorrow. *Sigh*
Anyway, this would have been an online first today if IMAX hadn't finally updated their South African website this afternoon with the new showtime schedule for its Gateway (Durban) and Menlyn (Pretoria) cinemas. Why is this important? Because Watchmen is coming out on Friday.
And for those of you who don't know, Watchmen, based on Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon's seminal 12-part series, is to comic books what The Lord of the Rings is to traditional fantasy. Fans have been waiting almost 25 years to see this masterpiece realised on the big screen. And this Friday is finally that day.
Anyway, Watchmen is being touted as a jaw-dropping visual spectacle as director Zack (300) Synder faithfully replicates the look and feel of the comic, sometimes even frame by frame. And I can think of no better place to surrender to Watchmen's delicious eye candy than in an IMAX cinema. Tickets are R45 each.
Watchmen is 2 hours 43 minutes long so there are only a certain number of screenings per day. Times for Gateway and Menlyn IMAX are the same:
Friday: 12H00, 15H00, 18H00, 21H00.
Saturday - Sunday: 11H00, 15H00, 18H00, 21H00.
Monday - Thursday: 15H00, 18H00, 21H00.
You can book for Gateway on (031) 566 4414/5, and Menlyn on (012) 368 1186 or 368 1188.
Oh, and bear in mind that Watchmen in rated No Under 16s for violence, sex and language. So don't bring the kiddies.
