Watch out, it's Friday

Quite quiet in entertainment land at the moment. The other day I emailed a message to Watchmen's Rorschach via his online journal:

I just wanted to let you know that I am a great supporter of your work. If only others had your courage…

The masked vigillante's typically clipped response:

thank you.

Anyway, Warner Brothers, who are behind the upcoming Watchmen film, are really pushing the whole viral marketing thing. You see that Rorschach icon on my menu bar? Well, Rorschach, via his blog is encouraging visitors to download the high res version, print it and post it up everywhere. Oh, and Adrian Veidt has a self-help website as well, which Rorschach has apparently been attempting to hack.

EDIT: Ooooh, the plot thickens! Well, according to CHUD, all this mysterious Watchmen hype isn't actually officially sanctioned. Rather, it's the work of a rather ingenious fan with his own marketing company... and clearly a lot of time on his hands.

Anyway, crossing back to real life from the weird grey area where fiction meets reality, the latest Watchmen casting rumour is Billy Crudup as Dr Manhattan. This rumour makes me considerably happier than the possibility of Jason Patric as the big blue. Crudup certainly has the defined bone structure for the part... (Brace yourself for more dude-ity!)

Anyway, as for what I'm up to this weekend, we're going to the annual Durban Airshow tomorrow morning. There have been all kinds of promises about how this will be the best show in years, especially since the South African Airforce and military has reinvolved itself.

Although, early reports of the programme suggest that things actually haven't changed that much - instead of new fighter jets/trainers, it's going to be the same old Mirage doing a flyby and touch-and-go. Which is actually quite disappointing... especially since the posters have been promising something very different.

Apart from that, we should be having a late lunch on Saturday with a forum friend (and former GEAR editor), who's down from Johannesburg.

And Paul and I want to get some serious World of WarCraft playing under way now that my copy has arrived. When I'm going to find time to continue my self-imposed mission to complete God of War, I don't know...

On top of this, there's now Die Hard 4.0 and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix to see at the cinema - although I don't think we'll be getting around to seeing them this weekend. They'll more likely be evening amusements during the coming week, especially since we've recently clocked up some free tickets to redeem.

I just can't see Rorschach surfing the Internet. :)

LOL, I think you're right. The possibility of being tracked via it would probably make him incredibly paranoid about it - although he probably would enjoy sites from likeminded "New Frontiersman" individuals ;)
