"I'll be back"
With the Writers' Strike and American Thanksgiving, there doesn't seem to be much exciting happening in entertainment land at the moment.
Rumours about a 4th Terminator movie have been brewing for a while now, especially since Terminator 3 set the series up for some Post-Apocalyptic Man vs Machine action. This week it was "kinda" announced that *gulp* Charlie's Angels director McG will be directing the film, currently titled Terminator: Salvation.
And according to a scooper on Ain't It Cool News, none other than Christian (Batman Begins) Bale is gearing up to play humanity's saviour, John Connor.
Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly posted up some pretty cool promo posters for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, a TV series that makes its debut on 13 January in the States (Click on the EW link to see the other posters). 300's Lena Headey steps into the role made famous by Linda Hamilton - that of a sweet-hearted waitress who transforms into a gun-toting badass with the responsibility of keeping her son, humanity's future saviour, safe.
The Sarah Connor Chronicles supposedly fills in the gap between Terminator 2 and 3, with Sarah and John pursued by new Terminators, and the police hot on their trail after their destructive activities at Cyberdyne.
Now where do I stand on all this? I was actually entertained by Terminator 3, although deep down in my heart I knew they should have left the Terminator mythology alone after T2, instead of trying to milk it further. I'm receptive to the idea of Terminator 4, but really, what's the point? There have been waaaay too many Post-Apocalyptic action flicks for my liking. The big drawcard of the first 3 Terminators was that it was sci-fi in our world context... with a horror flavour, given the unstoppable chase of the Terminators after the fragile human heroes.
So I'm actually more keen for The Sarah Connor Chronicles than Terminator: Salvation. This said, I'm pretty wary of single-concept TV shows, which tend to get repetitive very quickly. But I'll certainly be giving The Sarah Connor Chronicles a chance, especially since T3 decided to completely, and unfairly, sideline one of the most iconic female action heroes of all time.

I don't know why, but T3 for me didn't (and still doesn't) feel like a proper Terminator movie. Hopefully the TV series will bridge my mindset and smoothen the transition from T2 to T3.
Sadly (and obviously) the final season's finale would ultimately be the death of Sarah Conner (she's dead in T3).
dont worry, i wont spoil anything...
.. john and his mother just got settled in with normal lives. everything turning back to normal...until...
cheers
