Trailer Tuesday: Balls of Fury

I might be getting too old for gross-out teen comedies, but there will always be a special place in my heart for absurd sports comedies. And what could be more absurd than the illicit world of underground ping pong?

Taking swipes at ridiculous martial arts action flicks like Kickboxer and Mortal Kombat, Balls of Fury focuses on Def Leppard-devotee Randy Daytona (Dan Fogler) who has a chance to reclaim his former sporting glory when the CIA recruit him to infiltrate a To-the-Death Ping Pong Tournament, hosted by evil Triad leader Feng (Christopher Walken). It's up to blind ping pong master Wang (James Hong) and his sexy, kung fu-fighting niece (Maggie Q) to whip Daytona into shape for the competition.

Balls of Fury hasn't exactly scored the highest ratings at Rotten Tomatoes - it's currently sitting on *gulp* 25%. However, it's been described as a harmless 90-minute distraction, and, well, there are much worse things than that. I'm certainly game!

Balls of Fury opens in South Africa on 23 November.
