Deathly Hallows not the last...

Well, this is hardly a surprise, but JK Rowling may not be finished with the Harry Potter universe after all. For a long time Jo had insisted that after Book 7 of the Potter series, The Deathly Hallows, she would no longer be writing stories about the boy wizard.

Rowling's kinda kept her word - instead of another novel she's considering writing an encyclopedia of everything Potterish, specifically so she can cover aspects of the wizarding world that just couldn't fit into the books. All proceeds from sales will go to charity, as they did with the other 2 Potter mini-reference books, the awesome Quidditch Through The Ages and Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.

Anyway this reminds me... I better double-check that I have preordered my copy of Deathly Hallows for the 21 July release. The Exclusive Books employee who "reserved" my copy a few months back wasn't exactly the freshest cookie in the box.

JK Rowling's new Potter hint

London - British Author JK Rowling has revealed plans to write another Harry Potter book.

The seventh novel The Deathly Hollows, due out in the summer will bring the young wizard's adventures to an end, but Rowling has said she might write an eighth for charity.

The 41-year-old writer wrote on her website: "I might do an eighth book for charity ' a kind of encyclopaedia of the world, so that I could use all the extra material that's not in the books."

The book would allow fans a further insight into the world of Harry Potter and his friends, including details that were not included in the best-selling novels.

Rowling has already penned two Harry Potter reference books Quidditch Through The Ages and Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.

The books raised more than £15m for British charity Comic Relief.

The magical tales of Harry and his Hogwarts pals have made Rowling one of the highest earning writers ever, and one of the richest women in the world with an estimated fortune of £576m according to Forbes magazine's annual rich list.

As well as Comic Relief, the children's author supports numerous charities including medical charity Médecins Sans Frontières. - Bang Showbiz.com

Don't you think 7 is such an odd number to end on ?

What, with all of the number's special religious and other connotations?;)

It was probably deliberate on JK's part, although it probably has more to do with the UK education system, and how Rowling, from the start, said there would be a book for each year of Harry's high school years.
