Weekend report back
For those of you who are actually interested in what pop culture I consumed this last weekend, as well as what I generally got up to, here’s the summary:
World of WarCraft: As usual, I played a good deal of this on Friday evening, Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon, running around with the characters of real life friends. My Hunter is now Level 55, has just completed the Sunken Temple dungeon, and about to specialise her leatherworking profession, going down the Elemental Leatherworking route. I hate killing Elementals but the gear I will eventually be able to make is worth this specific grind.
Boardgames: Following a braai on Saturday evening we decided to play something other than Settlers of Cataan and tackled the WarCraft strategy boardgame instead (please note, this is not the *ahem* R800 World of WarCraft boardgame). WarCraft plays almost exactly like the computer game RTS, but in its way is even more strategic as you unleash ranged, aerial and melee units into and out of combat. Resources are limited, so you’re forced to expand and fight over wood and gold. I didn’t think I did anything tactically wrong, but an epic, equally matched battle decimated both sides’ units, and meant I was first kicked out of the game.
Movies: Apart from going to watch Rambo (reviewed below), we finally got around to watching Family Guy’s Star Wars spoof: Blue Harvest. Granted it’s only 48 minutes or so (it comprises 2 episodes of the cult animated TV series, placed back to back), but it really is a must-see for geeky fans of Star Wars and Family Guy. On Sunday evening I watched MNET’s Sunday night movie World Trade Center for the second time. Remarkably I found Oliver Stone’s movie actually improved with a second viewing, and was more emotionally affecting this time around.
Misc: Otherwise, on Saturday the bf was on a course, so I took the time to do some “admin” things – cleaning, dusting and filing away all my usual accumulated receipts, invoices, tax certificates and paperwork . Oh, and I baked my famous chocolate cake squares! I’m very much looking forward to the long weekend/s coming up.

I just got done with a year-long run on there. It's kind of addicting and can be sort of a life-sucker, but you can also set it up so that you can either be very involved or not so involved at all.
By the way, I really like your blog.
No, I haven't ever played Travian, although the name does sound pretty familiar. I would check it out but I have enough time stealing games to contend with as it is ;)
