My "Around the World in 8 Figurines" workspace

So I haven't had a chance to blog in detail yet about my Egypt and Jordan vacation. That should be rectified soon...

Anyway, the reason for this lack of posting has been a shortage of time, due to the need to settle in, complete assorted life admin tasks and meet some work commitments. On that note, I must say I am still thoroughly enjoying a life free of rush hour routine and office imprisonment. But I digress.

One of the first and most important life admin tasks I had to complete as soon as I returned was to move back into my room after I was relocated in early January to accommodate my visiting grandfather. This moving process was a much needed opportunity to Spring, or, rather, Dog Days of Summer Clean my room and rearrange my personal space.

For those of you interested, my desk - my personal workspace where I spend most of my time - now looks like this:

Tres geeky, non?

I'm especially proud of the shelf above my desk, which has now be rearranged as a little tribute to my travel exploits, with, from left to right, the following places covered: Rome, Egypt, Greece, Paris, England, Chile, Australia and the Middle East again.

The Easter Island head (Chile) and koala (Australia) were gifts from friends and family, but all the other knickknacks were bought by me - proving I'm one of those tourists who happily funds the market for cheap souvenirs;) Not that I really care, however...

For some these goodies may be tacky dust collectors, but each has significance for me, bringing back many good memories.

The toothbrush isn't very geeky and one wonders what the naked voodoo type figuringe in front of the snow globe is for ;-)

Nice not being chained to a 8-5 daily isn't it ... I had that for a month after I resigned from Evil Corp and 2 months after I got back from Thailand.

Told you it was the best thing I ever did...

Karl, I thought someone would comment on that wallpaper, which combines 2 of my favourite things: Family Guy and Neverending Story! :)

Steven, go get some tea:) For the record that "voodoo figurine" is a little artist's model for posing reference.

Well I'm still not sure which is more disturbing - the naked voodoo doll posing dewd ... the variety of pointy opjects near the voodoo doll, it "posing" next to the near naked women, or the fact that there is an electric toothbrush involved in all of this somehow :P

(Can you tell I've had my tea and sugar??? )

Indeed, I worry about the toothbrush being there on the desk. Now I have visions of you living in a box to be honest... ;)

What a strange fascination with my oral hygiene;) For the record the electric toothbrush is there because the only plug point in my room is behind my desk.
