The Dark Knight goodies

OK, phew, back after a 2 and a half hour power cut...

Over the past few days a number of new pics from Batman Begins sequel, The Dark Knight have appeared online. First up, by clicking here you can see pics of Maggie Gyllenhaal, replacing Katie Holmes as Bruce Wayne's childhood sweetheart, attorney Rachel Dawes. On the same page you'll also see Aaron Eckhart as new district attorney (and future Two-Face) Harvey Dent.

Now onto the more exciting stuff:

Batman has a new segmented suit in The Dark Knight. For the first time ever, a movie Caped Crusader will be able to turn his head thanks to a new helmet-like headpiece. It's about time actually - street hoodlums would easily get the drop on Batman if a merged head and shoulder piece kept him facing only one direction.

You can see Entertainment Weekly's article on the suite, with a labelled breakdown of the costume here at SuperheroHype.

Also, this time around, Batman will be cruising the streets of Gotham on his Batcycle, here renamed the Batpod for some reason. I wasn't a big fan of the Bat "tank" seen in Batman Begins, and the massive tyres on this vehicle give me a similar vibe. I tend to prefer my Bat gadgetry sleek and sexy - not hulking.

Anyway, you can see more pics of the Padpod here...

Check back here tomorrow for more news on the progress of Watchmen, Zack Snyder's big screen adaptation of Alan Moore's seminal graphic novel.

That bike looks awesome! Things can be sleek and sexy without being 80's plastic shiny :p And the word Batpod sounds a tad less daft than "batcycle"..lol.

In any case this sequel and the original before it are just reinterpretations of the same story, you cant expect them to copy the style of previous films, it would be pointless and boring.

I favour this new gritty style, it's more plausible but without comprimising the graphic novel feel. Instead, I believe it enhances it.

The new gritty style? Did you not see the first 2 movies?

I dunno about batpod... sounds as silly as batcycle... in anycase surely batcycle yould be a bicycle and batbike would be a motor-bike... badpod sounds like it should play music.

but then it will already play mp3's everything has gotta play mp3's...

I'm affraid batpod sounds more like an escape module for the Event Horizon.

2 speeder bikes + 2 tractor wheels = batpod

George Lucas would be proud (if he doesn't sue)
