No guesses what I'm doing this weekend!

Admittedly I'm quite nervous about watching Indiana Jones the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

The reason is that the Indiana Jones trilogy is my most beloved movie series of all time. Raiders, Temple and Crusade will forever occupy a special place in my heart, because, well, Indiana Jones the Temple of Doom was the first movie I ever watched at the cinema - and according to my mother this little 3 year old didn't stop talking about the movie for months.

I'm really worried that my adoration for the trilogy will be sullied by Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Will Spielberg, Ford and co. really be able to recapture the magic almost 20 years after we last saw the intrepid, Nazi-bashing archeologist riding off into the sunset? I really, really, really hope so. For the record, I'm speaking as one of those rare Indy fans who was happy to leave the trilogy as it was, with no further big screen adventures.

Anyway, here's the Indiana Jones trilogy in order of my favourites:

1) Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)

2) Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)

3) Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)

Admittedly Raiders of the Lost Ark is the best, and most consistently excellent, of the movies. However Temple, the darkest and most flawed of the movies, remains my overall favourite.

It grates me how apologetic Spielberg always seems about Temple: insane stunts, non-stop action, monkey brains, booby traps, ritual heart removal, blood drinking, Chinese sidekicks, mine car races, crocodile attacks, showtunes... what more could you want in a movie?

One of my all-time favorite lines in cinema is John Rhys-Davis saying: "Asps. Very dangerous. You go first."

And, sadly, I just figured out this weekend pst that that was John Rhys-Davis. Sad, sad, sad for me.

I love Indiana Jones, as well. I'll always have a connection in that I grew up in Indiana and my last name is almost Jones...sort of.

I'm going Saturday night. I'm so excited. I think I'm more excited than I was for Phantom Menace.

I'm curious to hear what you think, mjenks... I was actually more nervous walking into the cinema than excited.

I felt like I was about to write an exam paper or something, lol.
