Chillin’ in the heat

The weekend was a pretty relaxed after an emotionally tumultuous week. There’s some “stuff” going on in my personal life right now but the outcome is very much dependent on events in the coming months, so it looks like I’ll be floating around decision purgatory for a while. Well, that’s the way I see events playing out, anyway.

Saturday

Saturday morning was spent bumping into all sorts of family and friends at the Pavillion while shopping for Baby Shower goodies. The afternoon was spent in the pool, and the bf and I rounded off the day watching Snatch (a definite future entry in this blog’s Most Memorable Movie Quotes series) and playing Episode 5: Reality 2.0 of comedy adventure Sam & Max Season 1.

Sunday

Sunday was spent finishing the final episode of Sam & Max Season 1. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that Episode 6: Bright Side of the Moon was actually the most difficult of the bunch... and surprisingly the most sexually suggestive in terms of humour.

Even though we had the combined brainpower of 2 people to apply to the puzzle solving, we found ourselves stuck a number of times. Eventually we *gasp* cheated by consulting a walkthrough. Twice. Still, Episode 6 was an excellent end to the equally excellent first season. I’m really looking forward to the collected Season 2, which already has 4 of 6 episodes in the can. I’m so happy that the Adventure game genre is doing so well again.

Speaking of adventure games and other goodies coming out for PC, there’s this mind blowing forum post, listing everything PC gamers have to look forward to in 2008. Wow!

Sunday was too nice a day to spend it completely indoors, so after Sam & Max we escaped the house and headed down to Scottburgh for some lunch and some strolling on the (surprisingly breezeless) beach.

In the evening we attempted to relive our 2007 Mykonos experience, making banana and Nutella crepes, but were only partially successful in getting the mixture right. Afterwards, we blew off the assorted Sunday night movies and made further progress with the PC version of Overlord. Dumping the gamepad, we actually found the game easier to play with keyboard and mouse.

Amazingly this weekend was almost completely World of WarCraft-less.
