Happy Halloween cosplay

Durban, the city where I live, doesn't have a dedicated cosplay community, but there are certain local events - the Sissy Hankshaw Pub Tour and Burn Halloween party for example - where the cool costumes, and their committed makers, come out. This year has proved no different.

With Halloween 2012 falling slap-bang in the middle of the work week, most of the big themed events, as well as private house parties, took place this last Friday and Saturday. I attended 2 events, and kept my efforts - as a female MMA fighter (Gina Carano perhaps?) and deranged Azula from Avatar: The Last Airbender - relatively simple.

Otherwise, superheroes and villains proved to be very "in" this year. Riding a wave of popularity, Iron Man and War Machine won this year's costume competition at the Burn event. Meanwhile a couple of the other Avengers - and Loki - lurked about, although it was Batman's rogues gallery that made the strongest impression: a 7-foot tall Bane, Joker, Riddler, Scarecrow, Catwoman, Harley Quinn and Two-Face (X2) were all in attendance. Enjoy!

P.S. Hope you have a fun, fright-filled Halloween.
