The Worst Movies of 2009: Razzie winners announced

At the beginning of February I posted the list of nominations for the 30th Annual Golden Raspberry Awards - more commonly known as the Razzies. For those who don't know the Razzies are essentially the anti-Academy Awards, as they set out to "honour" the worst films released during the previous year.

In keeping with Razzie tradition, the winners, or should that be sinners(?), were announced on Saturday, a day before the Academy Awards ceremony. And here are the chosen few:

Worst Picture of 2009:
Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen (AKA Trannies, Too)

Worst Actress of 2009:
Sandra Bullock (All About Steve)

Worst Actor(s) of 2009:
All Three Jonas Brothers (Jonas Brothers: The 3-D Concert Experience)

Worst Screen Couple:
Sandra Bullock & Bradley Cooper (All About Steve)

Worst Supporting Actress:
Sienna Miller (G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra)

Worst Supporting Actor:
Billy Ray Cyrus (Hannah Montana: The Movie)

Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-off or Sequel (Combined Category for 2009):
Land of The Lost

Worst Director:
Michael Bay (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen)

Worst Screenplay:
Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen

Special 30th RAZZIE®-versary Awards

Worst Picture of the Decade:

Battlefield Earth - Nominated for 10 Razzies / "Winner" of 8

Worst Actor of the Decade:
Eddie Murphy - Nominated for 12 "Achievements" / "Winner" of 3 Razzies

Worst Actress of the decade
Paris Hilton - Nominated for 5 "Achievements," "Winner" of 4 Razzies

----------------------

Taking home 3 Razzies, Transformers sequel Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was this year's big winner-loser. For the record, the film was on my list of Worst Films of 2009, but earned its spot for being so big, dumb and bad it is actually in the end worth watching as a lot of "WTF?" fun.

Speaking of which, if you've seen the film, you'll probably get a good laugh out of this Transformers 2 FAQ (if you've never read it before).

I don't think it is fair to say that Sandra Bullock was the worst actress. Have you seen her in All about steve? She acts like a blundering fool that can't act. Having her make us believe that is the job of a good actor.

See, to the contrary, I heard Transformers 2 went from being so bad it's good, to being so bad that it went past good and back to bad again!

Now, on the other hand, Uwe Boll films...

Dante, hmmm, that's a very interesting point. Although, in Bullock's defense as well, the Razzies are a bit of fun. They tend to "honour" scapegoats it's fun to lambast as opposed to really appalling films.

Brandon, argh, I actually watched BloodRayne, and that one was definitely in "so bad it's bad" territory. Nothing redeeming about it whatsoever.
