Girlz 'N' Games #50: He's just not that into you!

So here we are at the landmark Issue #50 of Girlz ‘N’ Games. Creating this strip gave me the opportunity to do 2 things:

1) Give a little more “screen time” to Dorian, Girlz ‘N’ Games third main character, behind Todd and Erin. Dorian was in fact named after Dorian Gray, the character in Oscar Wilde’s famous gothic novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray. GNG's Dorian is good looking, witty, the ladies love him but he suffers from a serious case of arrogant narcissism. The result is that he spends a lot of time bemoaning his singledom yet is largely blind to the affections that some very attractive, sometimes very loose, women have for him.

Although I didn’t draw it, I imagine the 5th panel of the comic above would be something like the final panel of strip #35, followed by Dorian rolling his eyes at the antics of yet another “crazy woman”.

2) Comment on Fat Princess, the (somewhat) controversial game available to download for the PS3 if you’re on the PlayStation Network – which, for those of you who don’t know, is basically Sony’s equivalent of Xbox Live.

Fat Princess is a multiplayer game with a “capture the flag” play dynamic that most FPS gamers will be familiar with. However, instead of heavily armoured soldiers fighting with high-powered rifles over a piece of cloth on a stick, in Fat Princess, the flag is morbidly obese royalty. Done in a colourful, cartoony style, your team must retrieve your princess from the enemy castle while simultaneously ensuring the enemy team doesn’t rescue their princess from your base. To make your rivals’ retrieval task more difficult you can feed the captive princess cake (gathered across the stage) to make her fatter, heavier and harder to move.

So you can understand why the feminists and chubbies are up in arms! Fat Princess may be stronger in concept than execution (reviews are good to excellent), but man it still sounds like a lot of fun. I’d love to try it out.

For the record, I came up with 2 comics related to Fat Princess, but I couldn’t choose between them. So you may be pleased to know Girlz ‘N’ Games #51 will be Fat Princess focused as well.

As usual, if you like this comic, please forward it on to your like-minded friends. You can also show your support by joining the Girlz 'N' Games Facebook group, which is open to all. The big advantage of joining is that you'll immediately receive an email notification every time a new comic is uploaded.

Contructive Criticism, hope you don't mind. A woman's shoulders are rarely wider than her hips, even on very slim girls.
