Girlz 'N' Games Comic #93: Coming To The Party... Early?

There isn't much to say about this new Girlz 'N' Games comic. Basically it's a gentle dig at all those rabid Game of Thrones fans out there... and man, there are some seriously hardcore GoT fans on the Interwebs.

I mean the way some people go on and on about the TV adaptation of novelist George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire, you'd think that nobody before had ever made an expensive-looking, period-set show combining graphic sex, violence and political intrigue. Granted fantasy epic Game of Thrones has dire wolves, dragons and the undead to spice up the mix but many of the same elements are there - from the stylish titles sequence with a catchy theme tune, to the large cast of predominantly British thespians, to the simple fact that recreating a centuries-old setting is damn expensive, and typically leaves no budget to depict epic battles. As a result, we just get to hear about them instead.

Anyway, you can buy the shirts Todd and Dorian are wearing, and similar apparel, here, here and here. And to round off this post here's a spoiler-filled, but very funny Game of Thrones spoof (originally from CollegeHumor), where the show is treated as if it were an old SNES cartridge video game. Enjoy.

P.P.S. The real-life Todd would like to clarify that he loved Rome. The Tudors, not so much.

Haha, despite the similar themes, I think GoT has a much bigger fan base mainly because the books have been out for 15 years ago. The last book is sitting unopened on my dresser because it's going to take forever for the next one to come out so I might as well reread the entire series so I can remember all the crazy stuff that has happened. Yay for Christmas vacation!

Something that bugs me to no end, though, is how the Stark banner is a grey wolf on white, not a pale gray wolf on dark gray.

Oh well.

I haven't seen the show, but I know it's a pretty faithful adaptation. I liked the books way before the new crowd moved in. I wish I had mentioned to more people that Ned lost his head in the end before they saw the finale, just to be a dick.
